Our Work

We are building on these initial projects as we grow the Rotary Club of Central Africa. Take a closer look at our accomplishments and check back as our next latest initiatives take shape.

Completed Projects

Before the people of Ngog Mba could receive electricity, another pressing issue had to be solved: the roads and bridges were in disrepair, making access nearly impossible—especially during the rainy season. The Rotary Club of Central Africa, alongside local villagers, took on the challenge of rebuilding the infrastructure to ensure the community could move forward.
In the heart of Cameroon, the village of Ngog Mba has taken a major step toward progress with the arrival of electricity.

In Progress Projects

The Girls at the the Kimaanya Secondary School have no means of showering at school. The current facilities at the school are not sufficient to address the girls’ hygiene and sanitation needs. It is common to see students in long queues as early as 3 a.m. every day, each of the students waiting for their turn to take a shower according to the school principal.

Under Consideration

Aicha Keita had traveled from the U.S. to witness the life of the people in her father’s native village in Guinea in the summer of 2020. Impressed with Fatou’s hospitality, and troubled by her learning challenges due to her family commitment of bringing water to her home, Aicha as a freshman in high school decided to take action. She thought if Fatou could draw water from a well closer to home, she and other children in her village would have a better quality of life. Aicha passionately dedicated herself to making that well a reality in 2021 with her “Wells of Hope Africa.”
Partnering with the Rotary Club Yaoundé, Mefou, Cameroon, Community Assessments have been conducted in Ngog Mba, Ntouleng, Mbanda, Bot Makak, Makai, Mouanda, Eseka, Pouma, Lobo, and Bibodi to evaluate community needs and priorities.

Out of service well

Project

Ngog Mba is situated approximately 140 kilometers from Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon. Covering an area of 36 km², the village is home to 980 residents living in 340 households. Over 30 years ago, a shallow well was constructed in Ngog Mba to provide water to the community. However, for the past decade, the well has been non-functional, leaving the entire village without access to clean water for 10 years.
