Before the people of Ngog Mba could receive electricity, another pressing issue had to be solved: the roads and bridges were in disrepair, making access nearly impossible—especially during the rainy season. The Rotary Club of Central Africa, alongside local villagers, took on the challenge of rebuilding the infrastructure to ensure the community could move forward.
The Rain and the Roadblock
When the electrical provider agreed to bring power to the village, they made one thing clear: their heavy equipment couldn’t get through unless the roads were improved. But just as the work was set to begin, relentless rains came, washing out roads and causing several bridges to collapse.
Community Action and Resilience
With Rotary Club member, Francois Ngijoi, leading the effort, funding was secured, and local villagers pitched in to repair the roads and reconstruct the bridges. The work couldn’t begin until the rain stopped, and the dirt roads dried out, but as soon as conditions allowed, the team got to work.
A Path Forward
Once the roads and bridges were restored, the electricity project could finally proceed. Today, Ngog Mba has not only improved infrastructure but also reliable power—creating opportunities for economic growth, education, and better living conditions.
